nature bench

Inclusive city for everyone

As cities keep expanding it disturbs a network of different natural habitats for local species. Insects are by the mainstream media a forgotten species of pollinators and contributes to natural decay of green areas. And as cities keep expanding we see a loss of biodiversity and a group of pollinators that contribute to the health of the limited green areas in cities.

Working on the bench_edited.jpg

The bench consist of three metal parts, a inner structure, and two outer covers. Across the top the bench consists of 72 wooden beams cut out to be able to follow the organic shape of the bench.

Design Sketches

By introducing biodiversity to urban kindergartens with little greenery, the Nature Bench becomes a learning tool that invites children to explore insect habitats. It helps them observe, understand, and feel comfortable around the small creatures that sustain our ecosystems.
